High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)

A new HIFU device was officially opened in the new Cancer Centre at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford on Wednesday 9th November 2011 by officials from the HAIFU Technology Company in China, Dame Fiona Caldicott and Consultant Urological Surgeon, Mr David Cranston.

HIFU was also featured in a new flagship programme for BBC World news called The Health Show. Mr David Cranston and one of the inventors of HIFU in China and now based in Oxford, Professor Feng Wu talked about the benefits to patients of using HIFU compared to that of more invasive surgery.
