Out of the Blue UCARE concert

The famous Oxford a cappella group, will perform once again for one night only at the Holywell Music Room, Oxford in aid of UCARE.
Described as ‘delivering an electric vocal spectacle combining irrepressible energy with infectious musicality’, Out of the Blue are fresh from their fantastic run to the semi-finals on Britain’s Got Talent, as well as a tour of the States and Spain. And with their new album ‘Rush’ available, Out of the Blue are certainly some of Oxford’s brightest stars.

Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon
Sunday 11th March 2012
The race consists of several circuits of the famous Silverstone motor racing track. The Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon is organised by the same team responsible for Virgin London Marathon, so you can be sure of a smoothly run event.
Entries for this event are nearly filled, but UCARE has some charity places, so you'll need to be quick to be sure of your place in the starting line-up.

Evening Reception at Henmans LLP

UCARE are holding a reception evening at Henmans LLP ~ those who already know us might like to come along and meet some of the trustees and researchers and get an update on what we are doing. Dinner in the Bodleian Library

Part of the University of Oxford, the Bodleian Library is a working library housed in a remarkable group of buildings which form the historic centre of the University.
At the heart of these buildings is The Divinity School, the University’s oldest teaching and examination room. Enter the Old Schools Quadrangle via the Catte Street entrance. Once you reach the Old Schools Quadrangle, behind the statue and through the glass doors you will enter the Proscholium. From the Proscholium you access the Divinity School where the dinner will be held. There is a ramp for wheelchair access.
We are confident that the pleasure of dining in the Divinity School, described as 'possibly the most beautiful medieval room in England' will be more than adequate compensation for the limited parking and the rather more functional other facilities. Please note that the Old Bodleian Library and the Old Schools Quadrangle are strictly no smoking areas.

Dragon Boat Racing – Marlow
10th June 2012
Join us for a fun day out in Marlow this year. We are looking for mixed team members for two Dragon Boats – previous experience not necessary!!
Full briefing is given on the day by the organisers. The helm will be provided by ‘Dragons Alive’ and UCARE supporters do the paddling and the drumming. The minimum age is 8 years and participants under 18 need to be with a responsible adult who are required to countersign a declaration.
UCARE will also have a display space, so if you don’t fancy a paddle, why not come and cheer our teams along and visit our stand.
Every team can expect to take part in a minimum of three races with the fastest teams going through to the semi finals and the winner of each semi final progressing to the final.

Helen and Robert Brind will be taking part in support of UCARE:
“I decided to help raise money for UCARE after my Mum beat kidney cancer. Thinking of it as a generic disease we did not appreciate how different cancers received different funding and how her particular one needed more support. Whilst only a small amount in the grand scheme of things myself and my husband decided that we wanted to do something to help... So the 10 mile 2012 BUPA South Run it is and we'll get fitter ourselves too!”
