SOMOD Furniture

Nominated as their ‘charity of the year in 2012’ SOMOD sells contemporary modern furniture mostly sourced direct from our factory partners in mainland Europe – they are only too pleased to help you find the perfect contemporary furniture for your lifestyle, and a % is donated to UCARE

Why UCARE?

The SOMOD company founder was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in autumn 2007 and very quickly and efficiently treated by the brilliant, caring and friendly staff at the Oxford JR Churchill Hospital. Four years down the line with a continuing clean bill of health, it's time to give something back to the Oxford based UCARE charity. Not only in the form of volunteering time for UCARE collection days and donating a percentage SOMOD's profits but also spreading the word about male cancers and the need for men to check themselves on a regular basis.

Young men assume that one old people get cancer and older men assume that testicular cancer is a young man’s cancer so stop checking. Truth is… YOUNG OR OLD it's every mans’ cancer! CHECK YOUR NADS LADS.

Kirtlington Golf Club

Our very grateful thanks to Kirtlington Golf Club who raised £1200 during 2011 as their Captain’s charity for the year.

Blenheim 9 hole naming ceremony

On Saturday 13th August 2011 the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough officially named the Blenheim 9 hole course at Kirtlington Golf Club.

A large crowd gathered to welcome the Duke and Duchess on a rather cloudy but dry Saturday morning and after cutting the ribbon the Duke and Duchess played a round of golf with the Club Captain, Leighton Davies and the Ladies Captain, Elaine Hunt as pictured.

Following this, as a celebration of the occasion, the course was open for anyone to play a free round of golf on the Blenheim 9 hole course over the weekend and this opportunity was enjoyed by many local people as well as visitors from further afield.

The Club also ran some small putting and chipping competitions over the weekend to raise money for UCARE which both the Duke as Patron, and the Club Captain support.

Northamptonshire Golf Club

Our very grateful thanks to Northamptonshire Golf Club and Margaret McLain [Lady Captain] for supporting UCARE this year. So far, their fundraising has included charity bridge drives at the club, a Christmas card scheme, a colour and style evening and Charity Pro-Am golf where they have raised £2,030.
